Character Formation

Financial Growth and Character — Neither Comes First

BUPCC believes financial growth and character formation drive each other. A loan can start a business; it takes character to sustain one. This is a principle we hold ourselves to, not a program we're claiming has already produced results — we're a young cooperative, and we intend to earn this reputation, one member at a time.

"Character grows through financial growth. Financial growth grows through character. Neither leads — they drive each other."

A Note From the Chairperson

"This Code is not a document of suspicion — it is a document of trust... We will not mislead you. We will not overpromise. We will not treat you differently before you join than after you join."

— Ramil Cueto, Chairperson
